“Miss Helen”, as she was affectionately known by so many, served her Lord and others for over 50 years by ministering to young children. As a schoolteacher, Sunday School and Children’s Church teacher, and in her own personal time, she loved sharing Jesus one Bible story, craft, card, or container of cookies at a time.
Miss Helen was the epitome of putting others before yourself. She always looked for ways to help people and make them happy, while avoiding attention for herself. Her legacy is one of a gentle spirit and graciously kind heart. Only Heaven will truly show how Jesus used Miss Helen to touch the hearts of so many.
Leaving behind to honor and cherish her memories are her daughter, Cathy Valerien and her husband, Mark, of Goldsboro, NC; sisters, Mary Mender of Marinette, WI, Ruth Boettcher of Marinette, WI, and April Brose and her husband, Dave, of Leland, NC; and many loving family members and close friends.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Sellards, of New Bern, NC, and brother, David Elmer Hadley and his wife, Carol, of Rock Falls, IL.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Cotten Funeral Home. A celebration of Helen's life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Following the service, Helen will be laid to rest beside her husband, Larry, at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
Cotten Funeral Home is honored to serve the family and friends of Helen Hadley Sellards.
