Charles Edward Kolb, Jr., 85, known to friends as “Charlie”, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2020 in New Bern, NC. Born on May 12, 1935 in Columbia, SC; he was the adopted son of the late Charles E Kolb, Sr and Mary Ester McKnight Kolb. He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Jane Polson Kolb. Jane and Charlie were married on November 9, 1963 and for 52 years lived happily in Columbia, SC and then Summerville, SC. Charles will be forever be remembered by his children: Charles(Chuck) E Kolb, III (Geneva), Susan D Kolb Pasquarelli (Jesse), and Gerald M Kolb (Sarah) and grandchildren: Nicholas, Jennifer, Amber, Cameron, Grace, Jacob, Hayden, Elizabeth, and Spencer.
He was also preceded in death by his brother (James Frank Kolb, Sr) and a sister (Anita Kolb Hucks). He was a graduate of Dreher High School and Midland Technical College. Charles enjoyed playing drums in a band and collecting stamps and coins. He retired after 31 years with Texaco Lubricants Company in North Charleston, SC. After retirement he owned Charleston Entertainment, and performed at hundreds of weddings and parties.
Charles and Jane were active members of Summerville Baptist Church. Upon his wife’s death, he moved to New Bern, NC to be closer to his son, Chuck. While living in New Bern, he became an active member of First Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Copper Ridge on the Neuse, 2706 Old Cherry Point Road, New Bern, NC 28560. Visitation will be at 3:00pm with the service at 4:00pm. A reception will immediately follow.
