Carolyn ‘Sue’ Pack, age 82, of New Bern, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024. Born on October 14, 1941, in Bixby, Missouri, Sue was the cherished daughter of Archie Lunsford and Wilma Copeland. Raised by her loving grandparents, Ot and Lizzie Copeland, Sue spent her formative years in Bixby before meeting and marrying her devoted husband, Jimmy Ray Pack, in St. Louis.
Sue and Jimmy built their lives together in Missouri until their retirement, at which point they moved to North Carolina in 2001. Throughout her life, Sue was deeply dedicated to her family, finding immense joy in the time spent together. Her love was evident in the many cookouts, birthdays, and holidays shared with her family, who were the heart of her life.
A woman of strong faith, Sue was an active member of Spring Garden Baptist Church in New Bern. Though her health prevented her from attending services regularly after the onset of Covid, her connection to her church family remained a source of comfort and joy.
Sue leaves behind her beloved husband of 62 years, Jimmy Ray Pack; their son, Jeffrey Ray Pack, and his partner Trisha Jones; their daughter, Michelle Rae Uphold, and her husband Jerry Uphold; and her cherished granddaughters, Trena Waters and her husband Carl, Sierra Chatman, and Nikki Morton. Her great-grandchildren include Amy Waters, Carl Waters, Briella Chatman, and Liam Chatman. Sue was predeceased by her grandparents Otto and Elizabeth Copeland; her parents Archie Lunsford and Wilma Moore; her brother Stevie Moore; and her grandson Jared Morton.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Spring Garden Baptist Church, New Bern, NC, on August 3, 2024. The family will receive visitors at 10:00 a.m., with the service following at 11:00 a.m. Sue’s memory will be lovingly cherished by all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to inspire those she touched with her kindness, faith, and love.
