Therese “Terry" Melanson 89 passed away peacefully on July 20, at the home of her daughter Robbie MacLean and partner Steve Berry of Norristown, PA. She was lovingly cared for by them and the team at Main Line Hospice.
She worked for Aerovox Corporation for 35 years and upon retiring, she redirected her focus and fulfilled her calling by caring for many children in her home who called her “Auntie Terry”.
Known for always doing something, she was often spotted cleaning up the neighborhood, shoveling snow, cooking and giving her delicious food to friends, neighbors and mail carriers. She not only fed people with her food but with her stories and jokes. She loved her Clubhouse, where every day filled her with warmth of conversations with those she cared for. She was the strength of her community.
She is survived by her sister Betty Palardy, 102 of New Bedford; nephew’s Robert Palardy of Marshfield and Albert Palardy of New Bedford; one great niece, Pamela Palardy; great nephews Richard Palardy, David Palardy and Dennis Palardy; Seven great grand nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her loving friends Jean Gibb, Eric James, Robin Michaels, George Soares, Mary Resendes, Lucille Edwards, Diane Mallagutti, and so many more.
Grateful for her eyesight all her life, it was Terrys’ desire, that in lieu of flowers donations be made to The Seeing Eye, P.O. Box 375, Morristown, NJ 07963.
Arrangements are in the care of the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745.
