Born in Acushnet, a daughter of the late Reginald A. and Mary Elizabeth (Blouin) Chandler, she lived in Vermont for 12 years before returning to New Bedford.
Mrs. Martin received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Bridgewater State University.
She proudly served her community as a teacher in the New Bedford school system, primarily at the Lincoln School until her retirement. She participated in the Foster Grandparents Program.
Suzanne enjoyed photography, fashion, reading, music, loved cats and volunteering, especially at the Red Cross. A kind hearted person with a great sense of humor, Suzanne loved spending quality time with her loving family and friends.
Her family includes a daughter, Kirsten Shusda and husband John of Swanton, VT; a sister, Rochelle Martin Ludwick and husband Frank of Framingham; a grandchild, Jocelyn Shusda of Old Town, Maine; a niece, Michelle Quinn and husband Robert and their children Jason and Jenna Quinn all of Holliston; nephews, Robert Martin and partner Sarah Watts of Westbrook, Maine and Kyle Martin of Framingham and his daughter, Samantha Benson of CT. She was the former wife of the late Peter A. Martin.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 1-4pm with a Memorial Service at 2pm at Manomet Place, 170 Riverside Ave., New Bedford.
