Roger P. Michaud, 84, of New Bedford, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Hathaway Manor. He was the husband of the late Lorraine (Hall) Michaud, to whom they would have celebrated 59 years of marriage on November 11, 2012.
Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Armand and Aldea (Levesque) Michaud, he was a life-long resident of the area.
Mr. Michaud was a machine operator at Morse Cutting Tools, Inc. He was very involved as a member of St. Anthony Seniors, New Bedford Catholic Guild for the Blind, L’Union Saint Jean Baptiste #433 and the Knights of Columbus at St. Anthony.
Mr. Michaud also served in the US Army during the Korean War from April 1951 to April 1953 as a private 2nd class.
He is survived by three sons, Ronald Michaud and his wife Donna of New Bedford, Paul Michaud also of New Bedford and Daniel Michaud and his wife Gabrielle of Maryland; three daughters, Yvette Woods of Tennessee, Estelle Michaud of New Hampshire and Muriel Aparo and her husband Thomas J. III of Connecticut; a brother, Gerard Michaud of Fairhaven; a sister, Doris Pruneau of South Dartmouth; thirteen grandchildren; one great granddaughter, Madison and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Maurice and Normand Michaud.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 10am from the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by his funeral mass at 11am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1359 Acushnet Ave., New Bedford. Visiting hours Monday 4-8pm. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Flowers welcome or donations in Roger’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
