Born in Boston, Mr. Shore lived in the south coast area most of his life. He was the son of the late John D. and Anna (Libman) Shore.
Robert attended Michigan State University and Washington University. He worked as a civil engineer for Fay, Spofford & Thorndike until his retirement. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. He was involved with the Lakeville Historical Society, enjoyed visiting the Island Terrace Nursing Home and especially enjoyed spending time at the water canoeing and sailing.
He is survived by a daughter Judy Stone of New Bedford; a son David Shore of Lancaster, MA; a sister Elsa Shaine of New Bedford, and 3 grandchildren. He was the father-in-law of the late Bruce W. Stone.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 3pm to 7pm for both Robert and Joan Shore at the home of the St. Don Family, 17 Parkhurst Dr, Lakeville, MA. There will be a casual cookout and attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair and kindly r.s.v.p. to [email protected] or to [email protected].. Remembrances will begin at 6PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Beacon Hospice, an Amedisys company, 529 Main Street, Suite 101, Charlestown, MA 02129 or to Bedford Village Nursing Home, 9 Pope Street, New Bedford, MA 02740.
