Robert Russell Nobrega, 75, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021, after a brief illness at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Bedford, he was the beloved son of the late Arthur Nobrega and Rita (Patnaude) Nobrega, he was a resident of the city.
Bob served in the National Guard and he was a firefighter for the New Bedford Fire Department for 27 years. Once retired, he drove for Tremblay Bus Company. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and he was the former President of the Westport Harley Owners Group. Bob was very protective of his family and always made sure their world was safe. Bob would be there in a moment’s notice and help anyone in need. He loved to teach life lessons, share his wisdom, and one-liners. He could often be found working on and perfecting his Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Bob’s proudest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren; a daughter and son-in-law, Bethany and Michael Arguin of East Freetown, a son, Robert D. Nobrega of New Bedford and seven grandchildren: Michaela, Brady, Devin, Ayden, Ava, Aliyana, and Luna. Bob also leaves behind his loving fiance, Donna Cardoza, a sister Janice Sylvia and her husband Joseph Sylvia, a brother, James Nobrega and his wife Paula Nobrega, three nieces, and a great nephew. Bob was the former husband of Cynthia LeRoux.
