Born in Weymouth, son of the late Harvey J. Kyser and Edith L. Frye and was a graduate of Silver Lake Regional Vocational High School class of 1966.
Rich was an excellent builder and carpenter for J & L Construction and was a former member of Local 33 Carpenter’s Union in Boston.
Family was extremely important to Rich and after moving to Carver in 1978, he became a coach for his sons’ baseball team and an umpire for his daughter’s softball team. He was also involved in his sons’ and daughter’s scouting. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
While in Carver, he joined the Lion’s Club and was secretary for 6 years and president for one. He was also an active member of the town government joining the finance committee.
Rich loved building 1/25 scale model cars and trucks. He was also an avid reader of history, reading about historical figures, places and events. In addition, he was an avid reader of criminal law and enjoyed reading about the many figures that were associated with the law.
Surviving are his children, Sean Kyser and his wife Sherry of Middleboro, Keith Kyser of Carver and his girlfriend Joanne Berdos-Jack of Wareham, and Stephenie Kyser of New Bedford; his brother, John Kyser and wife Claire of Halifax; his grandchildren, Justin Hood of Orange City, FL, Morgan Sablain and her husband Benjamin of St. Cloud, FL and Victoria Kyser and her wife Jackie Larsen of Sutton; his great grandchildren, twins Aubrianna and Arianna Sablain and Lincoln Sablain of St. Cloud, FL, Braiden and Hailynn Kyser, Joseph Post and Ainsley Mehrman of Sutton.
Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 5:00pm – 7:00 pm in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. His Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 10am in Hanover Center Cemetery, 47 Main St., Hanover.
