Patricia Allison Sylvia of Alden Court Nursing Home in Fairhaven, MA passed away January 22nd 2021. She was recently diagnosed with Cancer but passed away due to a brief illness and complications from Covid 19.
Daughter of the late William and Irene (Carreiro) Allison and sister of the late Ronald Roy Allison of South Dartmouth. She was born in New Bedford on March 3rd 1946 and lived in North Dartmouth until she was married to the late Robert (Bob) J. Sylvia at the St. George Church in South Dartmouth in the mid 1960’s.
She went to Massachusetts Institute of beauty culture and graduated from Hairdressing school. She then worked with her mom at her salon until her mom passed away. After her mom’s death in 1975, Patricia and Bob decided to take their family cross-country in a camper ending up in Phoenix Arizona. She then went to school and graduated as a Certified Nurse’s Aide in the 1970’s. She loved Arizona deeply but moved back to Massachusetts to be with her family in 1981. She continued working as a Nurse’s Aide and part time waitress until she was diagnosed with MS in the late 1990’s. Patricia and Bob were married for many years but divorced in the late 1980’s. After Bob passed away, Pat was diagnosed with dementia but continued to love Bob every moment on until her passing. Some of her favorite times were spending time and playing games with her old friend the late Joseph Tavares and his wife Dixie Tavares of New Bedford, MA. She was adored and also enjoyed spending time with her late mother-in-law Mary C. Sylvia and her late sister-in-law Angelina Sylvia both of New Bedford. She loved her children and also loved cats and dogs, playing cards, doing crosswords and watching movies.
