Maria Rosa Pereira

Born in Achada Nordeste, Sao Miguel, Portugal, a daughter of the late Antonio F. and Gloria (Custodio) Pereira, she was a long time resident of New Bedford. Maria was employed as a floor worker for 46 years at Joseph A. Abboud, retiring in 2020. She also had attended school to be a hairdresser.

Maria loved her family dearly; family was the most important to her. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and siblings. Maria loved to listen to music, dance, watch movies, attend church and study the Bible. She enjoyed watching football, shopping with her sister Guida and planting. Maria was a compassionate person and always loved to help others.

She is survived by her children, Corey Machado and his wife Leonor of New Bedford and Megan Machado and her husband Chris Botelho of New Bedford; her siblings, Guida Pimentel and her husband Jose of New Bedford and Tony Pereira and his wife Nelly of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren, Phillip, Aryana, Christian and Axel; her nieces and nephews/godchildren, Stephanie, Eric, Christopher, Vanessa and Kyle.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 10:00AM in Evangelical Church of the Nations, 129 Hathaway Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02740. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Burial will be private.
