Joseph Nunes Jr.

Joseph Nunes Jr., age 88, of New Bedford, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Saint Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Pricilla (Nunes) Nunes, to whom he had been married for 62 years until she died this past July.

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Joseph and Rose (Vieira) Nunes, he was a life-long resident of the area. Mr. Nunes was a self-employed Contractor and Builder for many years before retiring. He was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in New Bedford, a member of the A.C.A., W.H.A.L.E. and Friends of Zeiterion.

Survivors include three sons, Marc Nunes, Jay J.R. Nunes and Tod A. Nunes, all of New Bedford; one grandson, Ian Joseph Nunes also of New Bedford; one brother, Albert Nunes of Buffalo, New York and one sister, Lorraine Freitas of New Bedford and several nieces and nephews. He was also the step-son of the late Emelia Nunes.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral mass Monday, April 9, 2012 at 9 AM in Saint Mary’s Church, Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Arrangements are in the care of the Rock Funeral Home, New Bedford.
