Born in Gardner, a son of the late Leo and Marie (Collette) Bergeron, Sr., he lived most of his life in New Bedford. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, New Bedford.
Mr. Bergeron was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked as a machinist at Morse Cutting Tools. John was a gifted artist who enjoyed painting, scrimshaw, and carving. He had a huge heart and thought nothing of dropping whatever he was doing to help others. His kindness and pride to serve others will be cherished memories for his family. Mr. Bergeron loved to spend time with his kids, grandkids, and family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Maurice Bergeron and his wife Kathleen of Acushnet, David Bergeron and his wife Margaret of New Bedford, and Jeannette Luis and her husband Keith of Dartmouth; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Leo Bergeron, Gerald Bergeron, Roger Bergeron, Normand Bergeron, and Claire Thomas.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 10:00am in St. Mary's Church, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745.
