Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Domingos and Theresa (Rua) Silva, he was a lifelong resident of the city. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War, attaining the rank of Corporal. Jack had worked in the construction industry for 35 years, retiring in 1990 and was a proud member of Local 385.
Jack loved his family, they all were very important to him. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, a proud union member; he enjoyed playing cards, his pups and watching his favorite show, Judge Judy. Jack will be remembered for his dry wit and sarcasm.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Bob Gomes, Joyce Silvia, Randy Gomes, Sandra LeBlanc, Jackie Markey, Doreen Cormier, Terry Sinko, Barry Silva and Jim Silva; and many great nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Gomes, Domingos, Mickey and Alfie Silva.
