

Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late William and Doris (Dufresne) Farrell. Jack attended New Bedford High School before receiving his B.A. in Mathematics with a minor in Art from Bridgewater State College. After college he taught Math for 4 years at Sacred Hearts Academy in Fall River and then for 31 years at Normandin Middle School in New Bedford until his retirement.
In his spare time, Jack was an avid golfer. He could often be found on the course with his buddies from the Hawks Ride Golf Association at Whaling City Golf Course. He was a longtime member of the 6th Bristol Social Club and enjoyed sailing, oil painting, and bird watching. He was especially fond of hummingbirds and awaited each season with excitement.
In addition to his wife Darlene, he is survived by his children, Kelly Farrell Sexton and her husband Tobe, William Farrell, and Kayla Farrell and her partner Rob Daniel; his sisters, Jane Paiva and Kathleen Hopwood; his granddaughter, Josette Sexton; his mother-in-law, Dora Campos; his sister-in-law, Doris daCosta and her husband Joe; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his Welsh Terrier, Sadie, his ever-faithful partner in crime.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Rd.
