Germaine Y. (Pepin) Varieur, 86, of New Bedford passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023. She was the wife of the late Rene Varieur who passed away September 11, 2023.
Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Donat Pepin and the late Cora (Bertrand) Lemieux and her husband Alfred she was a lifelong resident.
Mrs. Varieur worked as a licensed practical nurse for St. Luke’s for 25 years before her retirement. In her spare time, she loved going to the casinos, playing cards, bingo, and cooking. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to go see live jazz performances.
She is survived by her children, Diane Fournier and her husband Ernest of New Bedford and Roland Varieur of New Bedford; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Fournier of New Bedford; a sister, Claire Doyon of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Vivian Sauve, Rita Wrench, and Jeannette Lepage.
