Donald Lee Souza

Donald L. Souza, age 61, of New Bedford, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 in Massachusetts General Hospital unexpectedly. He was the husband of Michelle (Collard) Souza to whom he has been married for 28 years.

Born in Acushnet, a son of the late Manuel Souza and Candida (Silveira) Boucher, he had been a lifelong resident of New Bedford.

Donald worked as a Truck Driver for Sid Wainer and Son for many years and prior to that for Cape and Service News. A true outdoorsman, he loved working in his yard, camping and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed building flyable model planes. He will sadly be missed by his beloved Beagle Cooper.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son; Douglas L. Souza, twin brother; David A. Souza of Buzzards Bay, one sister; Josephine Rothwell of MS, in-laws; Richard and Barbara Collard of New Bedford, one granddaughter and many sister-in-law’s and nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 10:15AM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours prior to his service from 9:15 to 10:15AM. In lieu of flowers contributions in his honor may be made to Community Connections Inc, 127 Whites Path, Yarmouth, MA 02645. Burial private.
