Berta Maldonado

Born in St. Michael Azores, a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Cordeiro) Gouveia she grew up there and came to the United States 1980. She was member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, New Bedford.

Mrs. Maldonado believed faithfully in the resurrection and that one day we will all be united. She loved to share her hopes and beliefs with everyone. Berta was an artist and a skilled painter. She loved to sing and being surrounded by nature.

She is survived by her 13 children, Esmeralda Arruda of St. Petersburg, FL, Nemesio Matos-Pimentel and Anabela Ponte both of the Azores, Ofelia Medeiros of FL, Alda Reis of New Bedford, Ligia Betancourt of FL, Hildeberto Matos of New Bedford, Helder Matos and Romulo Matos both of Azores, Ines Lima of New Bedford, Tania Matos of Fall River, Flor Matos of the Azores and Rebecca Maldonado of New Bedford; 34 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
