Antonio Pacheco Costa

Antonio Pacheco Costa, 78, of New Bedford passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of 52 years to Leontina (Melo) da Costa. He was the son of the late Jamie Francisco Da Costa and the late Maria Espirito Santo Costa.

Born in Povoaçao Saõ Miguel, Açores. Antonio came to the United States in 1972 with his family. He retired as a landscaper from Horacio Furtado Landscaping. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church.

Antonio was a member of The Senhor da Pedra Club for many years. What made him happiest was working in his garden, family gatherings, and being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Tony Costa and Louie Costa and his girlfriend Heather Dupont of Fairhaven; daughters, Ana Nunes and her husband Ed of Dartmouth and Luisa Marrone and her husband Paul of New Bedford; a brother, Jose D. Costa of Canada; a sister, Salome Viveiros of Canada; grandchildren, Shantelle Knoll and her husband Al, Kayla and Jasmyne Nunes, Jocelynne Johansen and wife Mariya, Jenna Costa, Nickko Gomes and wife Kristen, Jesse Gomes and fiancé Dedra; great grandchildren, Jayden Nunes-Medeiros and Landyn Gomes. Benjamin Gomes and Gabriella Knoll on the way and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jaime Costa, Normenia Pimental, and Aldina Costa Marques.

His funeral will be Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 9 am from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a funeral mass at 10 am in Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford.
