Andre Etienne Trahan, 93 of Acushnet, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024, at Tobey Hospital after a brief illness, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Rose Anna (Duchaine) Trahan, with whom he celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary in November.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Joseph P. and Marie A. (Quintin) Trahan, Andre “Andy” was a graduate of St. Anthony High School class of 1948 and employed as a union plumber, Locals 51 and 77 for 40 years. He was a passionate and talented craftsman. An enthusiastic bowler, he looked forward to weekly team games with friends until the age of 93. “Not bad for a young fella, considering age and mileage” he would often say as he triumphed over all family members at the alleys at Christmas time.
Andy most enjoyed spending time with family and is survived by his children: Norma Jeanne Pimental and her husband George of Acushnet, Robert A. Trahan and his partner Denyse Conrad of Mattapoisett, Kenneth A. Trahan and his wife Susan of Columbus Ohio, Peter A. Trahan and his wife Mary of Fairhaven, Matthew J. Trahan, and his wife Robin of New Bedford; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Andre P. Trahan and was predeceased by his sisters Noella Chevalier and Jeanette Benjamin, brothers Paul, Raymond, Marcel, Albert, and Roger.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Relatives and friends are invited.
