Albert Farias, age 78, of New Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of Dora (Vieira) Farias with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford and a lifelong resident, Mr. Farias attended local schools and served in the National Guard.
He had worked as a meat cutter at Fernandes Supermarket for many years and worked part-time at Willow Tree Farms in Attleboro.
Al and his wife were talented ball room dancers who won many competitions at Lincoln Park Ballroom. They also taught dancing in their home. He was a huge Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed bowling and golfing.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Albert Farias, Jr. and Mark Farias of New Bedford; a brother, Antone Farias and wife Cecilia of New Bedford; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, William Farias.
