William "Bill" Dean Schroeder, 67, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023. Bill was born on December 12, 1955 to William H. Schroeder and Emma C. Schroeder at St. Elizabeth Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. Bill attended St. Mary’s of the Knobs grade school, Providence High School, and Indiana University Southeast, where he was a founding member of their Pi Kappa Alpha chapter. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald J. Schroeder. He is survived by his children, daughter Rosalyn Schroeder, son Sterling Schroeder, and stepson Todd McCutcheon (Erica), his brother John S. Schroeder (Patsy) and sister Sheila Bennett, and he enjoyed a special friendship with his first wife Sharon Schroeder, who is the mother of his children. Bill had a competitive spirit—he was an avid player of sports in his youth (including football, softball, tennis, and basketball) –and brought that competitive nature to the card table and bowling lanes as he got older. Bill spent his work life in various sales and marketing roles, where he enjoyed meeting new people and traveling throughout the region. Bill will be greatly missed by his family and friends, which were widespread and included nearly everyone he met on his adventures around town. Visitation will be from 1-6 PM on Sunday, February 19th at Kraft funeral home on Spring Street in New Albany, IN; a celebration of life service will begin at 11 AM at the same location on Monday, February 20th. Interment will follow at Kraft-Graceland Cemetery on Charlestown Road in New Albany, IN. All friends and family are welcome to attend all events and to bring any stories about Bill that they would like to share.
