Vincent Morris Beyer, 92, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on February 10, 2023, peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at his home. Vince was born to Clarence and Viola (Fox) on January 28, 1931, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Vince was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Nelson; his brother, Ronald Beyer, and his parents.
He is survived by Connie Beyer, Cathy Renn (Charlie), and Patti Howland (Chris); his grandchildren, Alex Renn (Hilary), Abby Cyrus (Dusty), Hayden Howland (Anna), Evan Howland (Danielle), and Logan Howland; and his great grandchildren, Bentley Renn, JJ Renn, and Ryker Howland.
Vince enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and served in the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. George. After returning home from the Navy, Vince married Clara Lee Nelson in 1954. They soon started a family and a grocery business in Louisville. After a move to New Albany, Indiana, Vince opened his first Convenient Grocery Store. Vince worked unending hours to support his family. He owned Convenient/Better Way stores in New Albany and in Louisville. He mentored,
encouraged, and created business opportunities for young adults.
As hard a worker Vince was, he was so much fun to be around. His sense of humor was borderline mischievous. As his businesses became successful, he was able to spend more time with family which was his true love. An avid camper and traveler, he took his family on many memory making excursions. He also loved to play chess with anyone brave enough to take him on. If you won against him, it was a true win. All who played against him know this well.
He was an avid lover of music. It all started at an early age playing the Bass in the Louisville Youth Orchestra and ended playing and making dulcimers with the Corydon Dulcimer Society, playing music at festivals and programs and recording CDs.
Visitation for Vince is planned for Thursday, February 16, 2023, from 2 PM to 7 PM and Friday, February 17, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 East Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150.... All are invited to attend.
