Roy Thomas Bennett, age 87, of Clarksville, Indiana passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024. He was born on November 2, 1936 in Grayson County, Millwood, Kentucky to the late Byron Edmond Bennett and Mabel (Sandbach) Bennett. Roy graduated from Shawnee High School in 1955 and joined the United State Air Force following high school while proudly serving until 1960. In 1960 , after his time in the Air Force, he began his 34 year career with General Electric. On June 20th, 1964, Roy married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Corum. In 2024, Roy and Pat were able to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with good friends and good food. Roy would like to recognize the good men at Masonic Lodge 210 in Fremont, Indiana and the Shrine Lodge in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He enjoyed 50 years as a mason including his time as master of his lodge. Roy would like to extend a special thanks to Charlie Taylor for his help in Roy learning all that went along with the position of being a Master Mason.
Roy would like to thank Rolly Middleton and his wonderful wife Wendy, for being such good friends, we had a lot of laughs, and fun times together. He is sorry, but he won't be able to make the next luncheon with Shirley, Brenda, Nevada, and Pat. He was truly blessed by his church family with The United Methodist Church of Nevada Mills. Roy had many friends within his church and loved cooking with Dave for the pancake breakfast.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Mabel Bennett.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia A. Bennett; sister-in-law in Ohio, Harriet M. Corum; nephews in Ohio, Jon and Jeff Corum; a niece in Ohio, Tricia A. Corum; a great niece in Ohio, Ella E. Corum; cousins, Don Gatewood of London, England, Patrick Sweetser of Virginia, Jerry Bennett of Unitca, Kentucky, Sharon Hill of Racine, Wisconsin, Renee O'Connor of Racine, Wisconsin; good friends, Don Shively and Ann R. Withers of California; his Power of Attorney and good friends, Darrell and Brenda Mills; old school friends, Jerry and Marlene Wilson and Joanne Henderson.
Roy loved living at "The Lake", Lake Barton, for 23 years. He enjoyed having church friends and neighbors over and he loved how it felt so laid back and relaxing in his home with Pat. He is also survived by Donna Furlow, who is a long time friend at the lake. I'm sure Donna's husband, Jack, who passed away last month has already popped the top and has one ready for Roy.
Roy has chosen to be cremated and there will be no formal service.
