He was born February 2, 1931 in New Albany to the late Robert R. and Lessie Davidson Kelso. Bob was an attorney, being the fifth generation Kelso practicing law in New Albany. He had officially retired January 1 of this year. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Chicago, where he was also the captain of the tennis team. He was New Albany City Attorney under former Mayor Garnett Inman. He was a former member of the Indiana State Board of Law Examiners and the Indiana and Floyd County Bar Associations. Bob was an avid boater and golfer. He held club championship status several times over at both the old New Albany Country Club and Covered Bridge Golf Club.
Survivors include wife of 40 years, Emilie Stein Kelso; son, Robert M. Kelso (Loya), Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Christine "Tina" Holland (Dave), Orange Park, FL; brother, Charles D. Kelso, Sacramento, CA; grandchildren, Abraham R. Kelso, Scott David Holland, Jeffery Dean Holland and Marie Ferrante (Rich); and great-grandchildren, Gina, Sofia and Isabella.
Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St., New Albany. His funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Kraft Chapel with burial to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
