Rachel S. Hammer

Rachel Sue Hammer, 78, died peacefully in her sleep on September 22, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Oliver and Helen “Bunny” Hammer. Rachel was preceded in death by a son, Oliver S. Marsh. Rachel was a ravishing beauty with a quick wit and a sarcastic flare. She was an avid reader, and she loved watching old movies, especially if Cary Grant was in them. She also traveled the world every chance she could. Men wanted to be with her and women wanted to be her. Rachel is survived by her loving husband of almost 50 years, John A. Wall, as well as two sons, Joseph C. Marsh and J. Fred Rexroat (Jessica), a daughter, Marianne Marsh-Ledington (Mark), two granddaughters, Sarah S. Jemerson and Valerie Johnson (Matt), and a grandson, Luke F. Rexroat. She is also survived by her two sisters, Dotty Newkirk (Rick) and Helen Brown (Ken), three nephews and their families, and her ex-husband Duke Marsh. The family will be having a private service.
