Neal Preston Lewis, 87 of Madison, Indiana passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020 in his home after a brief illness. He was born May 4, 1932 in Madison, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Helen Lewis, sisters, Claudia Inskeep (Frank) and Thelma Beaty (Russell), brother, Ralph Lewis. He is survived by his brothers, Robert Boaker Lewis, Jr. and James F. Lewis (Joyce), and his special friend, Steve Javage of Augusta, West Virgina, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be missed by his friends and family all over the country.
He proudly served in the United States Army. Neal continued his service in civilian life beginning at the Jefferson Proving Grounds in Madison, Indiana. Throughout his professional life, he continued his government career working for the U.S. Army in Arizona, Seoul, South Korea, the Aberdeen, Maryland Proving Grounds, and the United States Pentagon.
Neal loved all kinds of music. He was an amazing singer and enjoyed playing the piano. He always loved singing in the church choir or music ensembles. Though he moved often throughout his life, he made friends wherever he went. Neal liked to share a good meal with good people, and he was never shy about laughing and telling stories with friends and family alike.
Visitation and Memorial Service will be Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Madison, Indiana. Visitation with the family 11:00 am - 12:00 pm and Memorial Service will begin at noon. The Memorial Service arrangements are being handled by Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison.
