It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Mary Farrell Mahon, announce her passing on Monday, March 6th, 2023. Mary (89) was the daughter of the late Bertha and Edward L. Murphy, and was born in New Albany, IN on April 26, 1933. She professed faith in Christ early in life and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New Albany, IN, most of her life. Mary will be remembered as a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She took an active role in her husband’s career in the Indiana National Guard and was a member of the National Guard Wives Club. She was an excellent seamstress and volunteered countless hours at Providence-Diversicare nursing home and the senior citizen’s center in New Albany. She was a devoted friend to many. She united in marriage to Carl G. Farrell, Feb 18, 1950. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1989. To this union three sons and two daughters were born. Surviving are Stanley Farrell, New Albany, IN, Mark Farrell (Janelle), Danville, KY, Randall Farrell (Susan), Ringgold, GA, Pamela Miller (Daniel), Marietta, GA and Carla Farrell, Georgetown, KY. She was blessed to have a second marriage to Kenneth Allen Mahon “Al” on April 16, 1994, who preceded her in death on August 4, 2017. Mary has nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Mary is preceded in death by her siblings, Martha Stepp, Margaret Gillipsie, Louis “Bud” Murphy, Edward Mathias “Tice” Murphy, Thelma Caudill, Bertha J. Dietrich, and Joe Murphy. Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Home, 708 Spring Street, New Albany, IN, with public visitation on Sunday March 12th from 3 pm – 6 pm at Kraft Funeral Home (Spring Street). Funeral service will be Monday March 13th at 10am and open to the public.
Mary will be laid to rest in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, New Albany, Indiana.
