Mary Ruth (Monks) Arvin

Mary Ruth (Monks) Arvin, 77, passed away February 9, 2022. The daughter of the late Noah and Lillie Mae Barnes Monks, Mary was born November 19, 1944 in Rockport, Indiana. Mary moved to Washington, Indiana in 1960 and graduated from WHS in 1962. She worked as a nursing aide and PT Tech for most of her career. Mary met Dale at a dance on Thanksgiving Day in 1962 and they have been together since. “I am a very fortunate man in having such a wonderful lady to be by my side for 59 years. Mary supported me in my hobby for all these years by working at events that I sponsored. She was mostly known as “Dale’s wife” and “Jeremy’s Mom”. Everyone that met her loved her. She will be greatly missed by all.” In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by siblings Junior, Jerry, Mae, Margaret, and Bobby. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dale P. Arvin, Sr.; children, Dale P. Arvin II, Kimberly K. Arvin Mattingly (Scott), and Robert Jeremy Arvin (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Sarah Arvin, Jacob Thomas, Caleb Thomas, Kaylee Thomas, Keira Arvin, and Allie Arvin; great grandchildren, Lilly Rose, Lucas, Lee’ah, and Hailey; and her brother, Dalton Monks. Visitation will be 10 am ~ 2 pm Tuesday, February 15th, at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. Her Funeral Service will be 2 pm Tuesday in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with burial to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany.
