Leland V. Sherrell, 83 years of age passed away on August 14, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 21, 1937 in Licking, Missouri to the late Everett M. and Burnice Hoff Sherrell. Lee was a retired pharmaceutical sales representative with Roche Laboratories. He was an antique car enthusiast and restorer, avid fisherman, storyteller, and loved traveling the country in his RV. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Imogene Sherrell, and brother Lenuel Sherrell.
Lee was a storyteller and master of “shooting the shit!” He was a social butterfly with a big personality. His friends appreciated his charm, wit, and sarcasm, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
He was married to his childhood sweetheart Sheila, and he adored his family. Lee was a family man who treasured time spent with his kids and grandkids. He was very proud of each of his four children and their accomplishments. His grandchildren were the “light of his life!” All of his grandsons inherited some form of his trademark curls, and some inherited his baby blue eyes. Each of his granddaughters were blessed with a grandfather who thought they hung the moon! Days at the lake, nights at the ballpark, and random drop in visits were his favorites. He had a special love for not only his dog Barney, but also for his grand dogs, who he visited frequently.
He remained close to his many friends that he met from his career, travel experiences and from his various hobbies. Lee had a passion for old cars and he restored them with great skill and style. His favorite restorations were a 1935 Woody Station Wagon, a 1955 Thunderbird and a 1949 Mercury.
To know Lee was to love him. He was full of laughter and love...a truly special man!
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sheila Sheets Sherrell; children, Rebecca Breeden, Doug Sherrell (Susan), Scott Sherrell (Brandi), Lea Ann Sherrell (Steve Summers); siblings, Barry Sherrell (Mimi), Pam Joyce (Doug), Linda Johnson (David); grandchildren, Sarah Mitchell (Jeremy), Ryane Edsall (Zach), Elliott Hess (Blair), Matt Briscoe, Derek Sherrell (Emily), Nick Briscoe (Hannah), Emily Gayhart (Chris), Garrett Sherrell, Grace Sherrell; great grandchildren, Kaylee Mitchell, Sam Mitchell, Jonas Edsall, Miller Edsall, Ella Hess, Hadley Sherrell, Lucy Sherrell, Elenor Sherrell, Hannah Young, Reid Gayhart; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Barney.
