John "Bill" William Chinn, 93, of Georgetown, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. John was born in Corydon on August 26, 1929 to the late Morris and Myrtle Simms Chinn. He was retired from B.F. Goodrich with over 37 years of service. He enjoyed playing golf, spending time at his home in Florida and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Chinn; a daughter, Peggy Sherrell; and sisters, Mary Dirck, June Overton and Doris Henkins.
John is survived by two children, Sharon (Curtis) Cadle and Ray Chinn; grandchildren, Shelly (Dale) Voyles, B.J. (Lynn) Cadle, Cortney (Jeff) Johnson, Tyler (Allison) Sherrell, Stacey Salmonson, Stephanie (Micah) Chinn, Billy (Kat) Chinn and Marshall (Jessica) Cleveland; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; bonus grandson, Travis Funk; siblings, Alice Chinn Flock and Lois Harmon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for John will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 East Spring Street, New Albany.
Funeral service will be Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Tunnel Hill Cemetery.
