Helen Gertrude (Andres) Andres, 93 years of age, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Villages at Historic Silvercrest in New Albany. She was born January 1, 1924 in Floyds Knobs, Indiana to the late Otto C. Andres Sr. and Mabel C. (Fenwick) Andres and was the widow of Edward H. “Babe” Andres. They were married for 36 years until his death in 1995. She was a graduate of New Albany High School class of 1942 and a lifelong Catholic. Helen will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Lucille Johnson, Otto “Bud” Andres Jr., and Wilbur Andres. Helen was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Clarksville, Indiana. The family would like to recognize and thank all of the wonderful, caring staff at The Villages at Historic Silvercrest for the loving care Helen received during her stay.
Surviving is her son, Tom Andres M.D. (Cindy) and two grandchildren Kevin Andres M.D. (Audrey) and Stephanie Andres. Helen was looking forward to welcoming her first great-grandchild this fall. Also surviving are siblings, Mary Reynolds, Richard Andres (Norma), and Robert Andres (Janis) and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, June 6th, and after 8:00 am Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street in New Albany. Her Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 7th, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. A rosary service will be recited at 1:30 pm Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service Spring Street Chapel.
