GEORGE EDWARD WEINMANN, 95, died peacefully in Lexington, KY on Saturday May 20, 2017. The youngest son of the late Henry and Kathleen (Martel) Weinmann, George was born May 17, 1922 in New Albany, Indiana. He loved growing up in New Albany and being part of St. Mary’s parish. He was a WW II B-17 Pilot. Following his service in the Air Force, he began a long career directing and shooting commercial films. George and his beloved wife Helen were founding and long-time members of Mother of Good Counsel Parish in Louisville, KY where they raised their only son, Tim.
Along with his parents, George was preceded in death by his seven siblings. The family would like to thank the staff at Morning Pointe East and Bluegrass Hospice Care who took such special care of George in his final days and weeks.
Survivors include his wife Helen, son Tim, daughter-in-law Barbara, grand-children, Sean (Katie), Tara (Nathan), Matthew (Stephanie), Jessie, Michael (Rachel) and Melissa (Ross) along with seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10:30 am -1:00 pm Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, IN. His Funeral Mass will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Albany. Private burial to take place in the near future at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
