Earl J. Schultz, age 96, passed away peacefully on December 19th, 2024, after a short illness at Sellersburg Rehabilitation and Healthcare. He was born on January 15, 1928, in Middlesbrough, Kentucky. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of New Albany for over 50 years. Earl married his lovely wife Ruth Schultz in 1949, after meeting her at Bowling Green College, and they built a life together.
Earl’s life was defined by his hard work, devotion to his family, strong character, and his unwavering kindness to everyone who knew him. He was the proud father of two daughters, Jane Schultz Weiner and Margaret Brinkworth, and son-in-law Gary, and he cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Earl’s family was everything to him. He was the proud grandfather of John G. Brinkworth, his wife Anna, and their children Adeline, Forrest, and Silas; and Mitch C. Brinkworth, and his wife Stephanie Johnson- Brinkworth.
Earl was always known for his quick smile, warm friendly nature, wisdom, and gentle spirit. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Earl was predeceased by his parents John Silas Schultz and Leona McBee Schultz, and son-in-law Dr. Leonard J Weiner. He is survived by his wife Ruth, daughters Jane and Margaret, son-in-law Gary Brinkworth, grandchildren John, Mitch, and their families, and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at 9:30 am and service commencing at 10:00 am, Saturday December 21st, 2024, at Chapel of the Cross, Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
Earl’s love and spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, and he will be remembered by all with deep affection.
