CHARLES “DENNY” STAPP, 72, of Georgetown, IN passed away on Jan 24, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Lebanon, KY on Aug. 15, 1948 to Catherine Wheatley Stapp Farnsley and Charles Edward Stapp. Denny and his future bride, Emily “Joyce” Senn graduated from New Albany High School in 1966. He obtained a BS in Education from IUSE in 1990. He became an office manager in his wife's practice until they retired in 2018.
He had a gentle, compassionate soul who never met a stranger. He was kind, patient, understanding man who would help anyone solve their problems. He had various interests including fishing, hiking, reading and collecting knives, guns, and antiques. He began raising fancy pigeons and doves as a young boy along with his lifelong best friend, Fred Zipp. He continued to promote this hobby until his death. He loved restoring classic cars and going to car shows, especially the Frog Follies with his beloved brother David. He was a boy scout who believed in strong values. He encouraged scouting in his children and grandchildren. He was dedicated to his family and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He and his wife enjoyed hiking and bird watching along the paths of Mt. St. Frances.
He was preceded in death by both parents and stepfather, Dale Farnsley, brothers, Phillip E and David L Stapp, nephew, Dana Stapp, brother-in-law A. Lloyd Senn, sister-in-law Judy Clark.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dr. Emily Joyce Stapp, daughter Jennifer Stapp Sparks (Mark), sons Dr. David E. Stapp (Joan), Terry L. Stapp (Tracy), and Alex M. Stapp. Grandsons, Nathan, Jacob, Liam, Nicholas, and Joseph Stapp. Granddaughters, Lauren, Olivia, Sara, Leah, and Alexa Stapp. A sister, Dianne Lowe (Tom) of Crawfordsville, sisters-in-law Billie Senn, Donna Stapp, and Mary Senn. Madeleine Stapp, Carrie Shuffitt, 6 nieces, 3 nephews and numerous cousins and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be at Kraft Graceland Memorial Park on Charlestown Rd in New Albany, IN from 3-8 PM Friday, January 29, 2021. A funeral mass will be at Holy Family Catholic Church on Daisy Lane in New Albany, IN on Saturday, January 30 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Salvation Army, Community Food Bank, Humane Society or a charity of your choosing.
