Barry Nelson Hicks, 66, of Sellersburg, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Barry was born April 13, 1955 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Willard and Marie Hicks. He was a retired maintenance engineer for New Albany Floyd County School, Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St. Mary's New Albany. He was an event coordinator at the Sternwheeler Ballroom. Barry was a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church. He loved to build, especially theater props for his wife's elementary productions. Barry was an avid cook and fondly known for eight years as "Mister Mom."
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, James Hicks, Mike Hicks and Steve Hicks.
Barry is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Mickey Hicks; six children, Heather Faith, Adam (Brie) Hicks, Matthew (Megan) Hicks, Miranda Hicks, Lindsey (Martin) Clark and Ethan Hicks; grandchildren, Madyson Lee, Holden Faith, Mykayla Lee, Peyton Hicks, Loucie Hicks, Mikaela Hicks and Simon Hicks; and a host of extended family.
A memorial visitation for Barry will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd. Memorial Mass will be Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. John Paul II Catholic Church- St. Joe Hill Campus, 2605 West St. Joe Road, Sellersburg, Indiana with burial to follow in St. Joe Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Barry's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
