It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Timothy McGillivray. Tim passed away unexpectedly on July 4th, at home, due to complications with type 1 diabetes at the age of 61.
Left to mourn his passing is his daughter Andrea, son-in-law Derek, grandchildren Tyler and Kyle, brother Randy (Tracey) nephew and niece Tristan and Taylor, his cousin Brad and his best friend Hosehead.
He was predeceased by his parents Floyd and Sonia as well as his favourite auntie Annie.
Tim grew up in Winnipeg on Royal Salinger and went to high school at J.H. Bruns Collegiate, that’s where he met many of his life long friends. After high school he studied art. He was a gifted artist from the age of 6 and transitioned that love into a career as a self-employed Artist. He sold many paintings and posters over the years and really enjoyed painting storefront windows over the holidays. He loved custom painting cars and would paint basically anything he could get his hands, or paint onto. Tim’s hardest job, though most rewarding and the thing he was most proud of was dedicating his life to raising his daughter as a single father. There was nothing in the world Tim loved more than Andrea.
Tim will forever be remembered as having the biggest heart, being generous, a loyal friend, and an amazing dad.
A graveside funeral will be on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Green Acres Cemetery (Highway 1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg) and anyone who wishes to be there is welcome.
We would like to acknowledge and thank family friend Steph for being there during our time of bereavement. Your support at the difficult time was very much appreciated and of great comfort.
In lieu of flowers donations to Diabetes Canada would be greatly appreciated.
“I want to believe so badly in a truth beyond our own. Hidden and obscured from all but the most sensitive eyes. In the endless procession of souls. In what cannot and will not be destroyed. I want to believe we are unaware of God's eternal recompense and sadness. That we cannot see its truth.
That that which is born still lives and cannot be buried in the cold earth. But only waits to be born again at God's behest.
Where in ancient starlight we lay... in repose."
