It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving Husband, Father, and Nonno. Remo took his last breath with his wife by his side at Riverview Health Centre.
He leaves to mourn his loving and beautiful wife of 55 years Luisa, his daughter Rina, grandson Remo, his son Valentino (Genevieve) and grandchildren Alexander, Joseph, Vittoria, and Valentino.
He is survived by his three sisters Gianna (Panfilo), Anna Maria (Late Domenico), Paola (Erasmo), and many brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Remo is predeceased by his Father Valentino Lucarelli, his Mother Rina Lucarelli, and Brother Mario Lucarelli.
Remo was born in Villalago, L'Aquila, Italy and at the age of 19 he immigrated to Winnipeg, MB. Canada where he met the love of his life Luisa. Remo and Luisa were married on September 6, 1969. He built his own home that they spent the next 50 years raising their two wonderful children and enjoying their lovely grandchildren.
Remo was a Welder for over 45 years, with Versatile Manufacturing and then retired from Franklin Enterprises making many lifelong friends throughout his career. He never liked to stay idle he was hard working, strong, and took pride in his work.
He loved travelling with his family to Italy, throughout Canada, the U.S. and many camping trips to Birds Hill Park, Winnipeg Beach, and Gimli. He found joy in the simple pleasures to say he loved Soccer was an understatement with Football and Hockey a close second and third.
He was very proud of his family and enjoyed being surrounded by his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed and will be forever in our hearts.
Services for Remo were held on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Holy Rosary Church with Father Michael Savarimuthu celebrating. Remo was laid to rest forever at in the Garden of Four Apostles Mausoleum at Green Acres Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
Come With Me
God saw you tired
And a cure was not to be
So He put His arms around you
And whispered "Come with Me."
With tearful eyes
We watched you suffer
And saw you fade away
Although we loved you dearly
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove
He only takes the best.
It's lonesome here without you,
We miss you more each day,
Life doesn't seem the same
Since you've gone away.
When days are sad and lonely
And everything goes wrong,
We seem to hear you whisper
"Cheer up and Carry on".
Each time we see your picture,
You seem to smile and say
"Don't cry, I'm in God's keeping
We'll meet again someday".
You never said I'm leaving
You never said goodbye,
And only God knew why.
A million times we needed you,
A million times we cried,
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we love you still,
In our hearts you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn't go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day that God took you home.
