With saddened hearts, we announce the sudden passing of our mother, Joan Noonan (French) aged 75 on May 13,2011 at the Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centre.
Joan was born on August 21, 1935 in Dominion City, Manitoba to Jim and Eva French.
She was the second youngest of 10 children. Joan grew up in Dominion City and attended
Dominion City School. Joan loved to go dancing with her sisters and friends. She married
Joe Noonan and had 5 children. They travelled across the world and made many places
such as Whitehorse, New Zealand, and U.S.A. home. Joan and Joe parted company and
Joan raised the five children by babysitting for the friends and family of the area. Joan .
met and joined families with Keith Scott. They both adored the Legion and shared many
interests. She enjoyed camping and spending time with Keith. Waking up early in the
morning and spending time in her Gazebo which overlooked her huge garden and apple
trees was where you could fmd Joan. She loved her family and friends. Joan cherished
children whether they were her own or the ones she babysat. She was known as Auntie
Joan by all the children she babysat. Joan loved her pets. They were as valued as her
children. Joan enjoyed her garden, knitting, along with making jams and preserves. Her kitchen was always full of
company, and she enjoyed seeing everyone come in and have a visit. Joan loved to watch
or listen to the Toronto Blue Jays no matter if they were winning or losing, she was a
dedicated and loyal fan. She was involved with the Dominion City Legion Branch 160 as
a secretary for many years.
Her family was her life and she will be so sadly missed by her children Dale (Lori), Tom,
Dan, Lorrie (Ed), Mike (Kim) Step Children Bill (Cindy), Dave (Debra), Cheryl(Ron),
Jeff (Anita), Tom (Sheila) Grandchildren Devin (Shannon), Lisa (Kyle), Ryan (Kaila),
Robyn, Nicholas and Nicholas.Great Grandchildren Cohen and Landen. Siblings Bernice
(Matt) Graydon, Jean Keehn, Gwen (Bryan) Nichols and many neices and nephews.
Joan was predeceased by her long time companion and partner Keith Scott, her parents,
siblings, Wallace, Vaughan, Thomas, Kenny, Dorothy, and Norma.
Funeral service will be held at the Community Hall in Dominion City at 2:00 on
Thursday, May 19,2011. Interment will follow at the Dominion City Cemetery.
Cremation has taken place at Green Acres Funeral Home. Funeral Arrangements by
Green Acres Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dominion City Royal Canadian Legion
Branch # 160 114 Waddell Ave E, Dominion City, Manitoba in Memory of Joan Noonan.
