Peggy Jane Burrie (Southwick) went home to be with the Lord, on May 8, 2024. She was 96 years old, and was a San Diego County, California resident for her entire life. Her parents, Laurence and Grace (Powers) Southwick raised her and her brother Fred in National City. She graduated from Sweetwater High School.
Peggy was married to the love of her life, Edward J. Burrie of Waukesha, Wisconsin, for over 62 years. They had four children, Gary (Ineke, Danielle), Linda (Bill, Scott, and Aaron), Edward (Aury, Christopher, Jeremy, Martin), and Timothy (Caryn, Amanda, Jason), and have been blessed with eight grandchildren as well as great-grandchildren.
Peggy loved to travel on road trips. She and “Eddie” enjoyed traveling throughout this country in their motor home. She loved to remember and discuss the trips they had been on, as well as always planning for the next trip.
Peggy served in many ways as a wife and mother. She held positions in her local Parent Teacher Association and with Boy Scouts of America as a Cub Scout Den Mother. She always sought to support her husband and children in any way she was able.
She loved to dance, and spent much time enjoying music and dancing with “Eddie” and friends at various venues around San Diego. She instilled a love for music into her children and derived much pleasure from singing and listening to music of all genres.
Peggy loved a good time and loved to laugh. We will all miss her. May she rest in peace.
The family gathered together recently to privately celebrate her life. No services will be held for Peggy. She will be interred at La Vista Memorial Park in National City, California.
