Mary was born on February 2, 1940 in Logansport, Indiana as the second of four children to her parents Israel and Lorena Raderstorf. She grew up in the town of Niles, Michigan where she was baptized into the Catholic church in 1950. In 1963, relishing the joy and freedom of her youth, Mary tagged along with a friend who was moving to San Diego. That is where she met and built her legacy with the love of her life, Phillip Landowski. The two were married for 57 years before Phil preceded Mary in death in 2022.
Mary and Phil built their home, working side-by-side together in Chula Vista. The home they built with their own hands was the same one where she gently eased out of this life and into the next.
Mary’s ever-present joy was evident in the plants she loved to nurture in her greenhouse. Her exceptional green thumb was particularly revealed in the rare and beautiful orchids she treasured, and her lawn was always a vibrant haven filled with her colorful roses and butterflies. Other hobbies she enjoyed throughout the years included raising birds, making wine, and reading the daily newspaper.
Mary leaves behind her two sons John (Grace) Landowski, Bryan (Lily) Landowski, and her step-daughter Darla (Bryan) Saintis. Still here to enjoy memories of their grandmother are Chelsea, Sebastian, Angelina, and Anderson. Mary Jane is also survived by her life-long friends, Lilly and Floyd Houser.
