Born August 31, 1927 in Nashville, TN. The seventh of ten children born to Jesse L. Sharp and Nelle McHugh Sharp who preceded him in death. Also preceded in death by his sisters Evelyn Sharp and Peggy Sharp Shelton, and brothers Jesse L. Sharp Jr., John M. Sharp and William R. Sharp. Survived by his wife of 64 years Margaret Ryan Sharp, three daughters Julia Sharp(John) Ribar of Louisville, KY, Evelyn Sharp (James) Redwine of Baton Rouge, LA and Catherine Sharp (Daniel) Zoladz of Franklin, TN and six sons Thomas Jr. (Mary Tohill) Sharp, Robert (Mary Ann Fischer) Sharp, Chicago, IL, Joseph R. (Tricia Rhein) Sharp, Charles (Linda Sipes) Sharp, J. Andrew(Sheryl Miller) Sharp and Mark (Jennifer Hawkins) Sharp. Also survived by 20 grandchildren Christy Sharp (Greg) Lembo, David (Jennifer Cook) Sharp, Melissa (Duane) Goin, Samuel Sharp, Emily Sharp, Margaret Sharp, Kimberly Sharp, Nora Sharp, Phillip Sharp, Christopher Redwine, Kristen Sharp, Frank Zoladz, Thomas Ribar, Julia Sharp, Sarah Sharp, Kevin Zoladz, Anthony Sharp, Anna Sharp, Leah Redwine, Lauren Zoladz, and five great-grandchildren, Claire Sharp, Ryan Paul Lembo, Chrissy Goin, Maria Lembo, and J. D. Goin. Also surviving are sisters Dorothy Daue, Baltimore, MD, Mildred Coode and Frances Luster and brother James M. Sharp all of Nashville. Tom attended Holy Name Catholic School and was a Father Ryan High School graduate class of 1945. He was an Honorary Life member of Knights of Columbus Council #544 and 4th Degree member of Bishop Adrian Assembly. He spent time in the Merchant Marines and traveled once around the globe. He later served in the U. S. Army. He retired in 1989 from Newspaper Printing Corp. after 40 years employment, having started in 1949 in the Stereotype Dept. and eventually following his father's footsteps as Supt. of Plate Making Dept. Tom was first elected to serve in the Metropolitan Council of Nashville in 1966 and re-elected to serve for five more terms ending in 1991. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tuition Assistance Programs at Father Ryan High School or St. Cecilia Academy, or favorite charity. Honorary Pallbearers are FRHS Class of ‘45 and their spouses. Grandsons will serve as Active Pallbearers. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9100 Crockett Road, Brentwood, TN. Burial will be at 2 p.m., Saturday at Calvary Cemetery, Nashville, TN. Visitation will be at the church from 2-4 with a rosary service at 3:30 and 6-8 with reflections at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 19th at the church.
