Thomas “Goose” DePriest Robinson, born August 18, 1935 at home on Woodlawn Drive in Nashville to Bertie DePriest and Raleigh Robinson, both deceased, died at home on May 2, 2021. His living siblings are Betty Sue Robinson, New Jersey; Anne Robinson Dale, Nashville; and Jim Robinson, Atlanta. His siblings Mary Carol Dent and Joe Robinson predeceased him. All six children attended Vanderbilt University. Tom was a lifelong resident of Nashville, attending Eakin Calvert Elementary, Walter Stokes Middle School and Hillsboro High School. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with an engineering degree and earned a Master of Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Tom was a low-keyed gentleman: kind, smart and a great businessman. He married Anne Gilmore Robinson in 1959 and they had four children: Julia Anne Robinson O’Keefe (Rush) of Memphis, Tennessee; Thomas Jeffrey Robinson of Nashville; Andrew McKinley Robinson of Nashville; and Amie Beth Robinson of New Orleans. Tom and Anne also have seven grandchildren: Olivia and Reece O’Keefe; Caroline O’Keefe Bork; Lauren and Alexandra Robinson; and Max and Luke Robinson.
Tom started several successful businesses: Aquarius Industries, Inc.; Magic Bay Car Wash, Inc.; Empire Plastics, Inc.; Blue Goose Trucking; Nova Energy Controls; Rock Island Partners; and P.R. Trading. Tom and Anne enjoyed real estate and other investments. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and belonged to the Hillsboro Church of Christ, Richland Country Club, and the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers. He loved Vanderbilt and attended many football and basketball games. He also supported the Tennessee Titans as a founding season ticket holder, and he and Anne enjoyed taking friends and family to the games. Tom had many friends and will be missed by all, especially Anne, his wife of 62 years, and his children.
A celebration of his life will be at Hillsboro Church of Christ, Nashville, Tennessee, on Friday, May 7, with a visitation from 10am to 11am, funeral services at 11am, and a reception immediately following the funeral services. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Hillsboro Church of Christ, 5800 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37215, or Meals on Wheels, 1100 Kermit Drive, Suite 300, Nashville, TN 37217.
