Thomas Norton Bainbridge was born July 20, 1940, and passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2021. He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Wallace Bainbridge, father, William Lafayette Bainbridge, Jr. and brothers William Lafayette Bainbridge, III and Richard Satterfield Bainbridge.
In his younger years, Tommy proudly served as a medic in the Air National Guard. In 1974, he founded Bainbridge & Associates Insurance Company and in conjunction, enjoyed a long career with Tennessee Bankers Association. He also founded, owned and operated Bainbridge’s Festive Foods - making delicious pickles, jams and jellies. He was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 24 years and actively supported Cumberland Heights. In his later years, he loved his daily stops at Noshville - enjoying the camaraderie of the staff and other regular diners. He rarely missed his daily 15th Hole meetings with his best friends. Most of all, Tommy loved being with his grandchildren, which he made sure to spend time with almost every single day.
He is survived by his wife, Becky, whom he loved very much - his children, Denise Herbert, Crockett Herbert (Heather), Tom Bainbridge, Jr., Holly Herbert Healy, Kelly Herbert, and Beth Weatherford (son-in-law and dear friend, Hart). Beloved Grandchildren - Peyton Bainbridge, Grace Bainbridge (mother and friend Stefanie Vieau), Maggie Kirkpatrick (Drew), Emma Healy, Levens Herbert, Thomas Herbert, III., Hart Weatherford, Jr., Helen Weatherford, Evie Weatherford, and one Great Grandchild, Jane Kirkpatrick, and his loyal, four-footed companion, Oliver.
Tommy will always be remembered for his kindness toward others, his witty, unmatched sense of humor, and his love and loyalty to his family and friends. He specifically wanted to thank his doctor, Cole Barfield, Tasha Jones, the caretakers at Blakeford at Home, and Alive Hospice.
Services will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Wednesday at noon with a private burial on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Room In The Inn and Cumberland Heights.
