Stan was born on Monday, February 16, 1942, in Great Falls, South Carolina, to Leo and Elizabeth Hull. He graduated from Great Falls High School in 1960, where he played football, baseball, and track and field. Then he studied mechanical engineering and ROTC at Clemson University. Stan entered the U.S. Air Force as an officer in 1967 and served 20 years as an engineer and program manager, stationed at Vandenberg, Patrick, and Eglin Air Force Bases and Seattle/Boeing Field. The next 17 years, he continued to serve the U.S. Air Force through the civil service at Eglin Air Force Base as a cost estimator and later as the Chief of the Financial Division of the Air Force SEEK EAGLE Office. His coworkers affectionately called him, “Stan the Super Money Man.” Stan was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and an Air Force Commendation Medal for his outstanding performance.
Stan lived on Okaloosa Island in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, for over 30 years before moving to Nashville in 2015 to live closer to family. He enjoyed spending time on the beach, water skiing, playing golf, watching college football, grilling burgers, travelling, reading the newspaper, doing Sudoku puzzles, and listening to Motown music. He attended Florida State University football games for many years as a dedicated fan. But most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Stan is survived by his three children: Russell (Flo) Hull of Saint Petersburg, Florida; Heather (Jim) Wilkinson of Smyrna, Tennessee; Pamela Hull (Juan Canedo) of Nashville, Tennessee; four grandchildren: Carmen and Anabel Canedo of Nashville, Tennessee, and Cassidy and Calista Hull of Saint Petersburg, Florida; and his cat, Ranger. Stan passed on to his family his legacy of hard work, responsibility, and eternal optimism.
