Roy Jacob Williams

He was a wonderful man-a good, dependable, wholesome, enjoyable, humorous, lovely man- A good father and husband-He was Roy Jacob Williams. Raised in Nashville- Born on September 15, 1930-Passed away April 26, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oren Michael Williams and Mary Frances Yocum Williams, and his sister, Mary Anne Seltz. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Alice Williams Williams (Mai Mai); son Roy Jacob Williams, Jr. “Jay” (Lisa), and daughter, Elizabeth Hays “Libba” Cantrell (Charlton); grandchildren Chrissa Lynn Cantrell Parks (Matt), Bradley Jacob Williams, Caroline Clare Williams, and Carlie Elizabeth Cantrell; great-granddaughters Claire, Avery, and Olivia; and brother Oren Michael Williams, Jr. Mr. Williams graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended David Lipscomb University for a short while. He was a member of the Church of Saint George in Ypres, Belgium. He was Vice-President of the old Nashville Surgical Supply Company and Wilson-Quick Drug Stores. In 1971, Mr. Williams founded Williams Medical Supply, Inc. and remained active until 2009. He was also an avid enthusiast of World Wars One and Two, and he read every book he could find on the subjects. He and his wife would take vacation with a group of English fans who called themselves “The Marauders” and toured memorials and battlefields throughout Belgium and France. Visitation Saturday April 29th at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home from one o’clock until three o’clock in the afternoon, graveside service immediately following at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Friends and relatives will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Employees of Williams Medical Supply, Inc. and any remainder of old British soldiers of the Great War 1914-1918. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alive Hospice or the charity of your choice. In closing, Mr. Williams admired immensely Robert Laurence Binyon’s quotation about the Soldiers of The First World War: “At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them”…And we will miss him.
