Robert Eugene "Gene" Swafford, age79 of Nashville passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. He was born Thursday, October 8, 1936 in Nashville and is proceeded in death by his father, Charles Swafford; mother, Mamie Francis Swafford; sisters, Joan Lovern, Kathleen Swafford, brother Allen Swafford.
He is survived by two brothers; David Roy (Janelle), William (Ginny) Swafford; devoted niece Kathy (John) Miller.
A Red Shield Kid, a Carpenter/Supervisor for C B Ragland Fixture Craft; he served in the United State Army from October 13, 1954 thru September 19, 1957, served under the 82nd Airborne Division; the National Guard, under the 130th Aviation Co, 30th Armored Division until August 14, 1959.
He leaves behind a host of other nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; great- great-nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 11:00 Tuesday, May 26, 2015 in the chapel of Eastland Funeral Home with Pastor Dee Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
Family and friends will gather to remember Gene at a visitation Monday, May 25, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 at Eastland Funeral Home.
