Robert “Bobby or Bob” Anderson Rucker, Jr., Age 91 of West Nashville, passed away May 8, 2018. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Mattie Earline Rucker; his daughter Patricia Faye Street; and his son-in-law, James O. Dotson, III. He was the first child born to the late, Robert A. Rucker, Sr. and late Irby Ruby Rucker. He is survived by his children, Daniel Michael (Margie) Rucker and Altha Annette Dotson (James) Mayes, 10 grand-children and nine great-grandchildren.
Bobby was a hardworking and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He served as a Seaman First Class in the United States Naval Construction Battalion, known as the Seabees, from 1944-1946. He was a long time member and past deacon of the Charlotte Avenue Church of Christ which is now known as Charlotte Heights Church of Christ. He was a long-standing member of the St. Thomas Cardiac Rehab Group where he gained many long-time and devoted friends.
He was best known for his carpet installation skills and as part-owner of Capital City Carpet Company in Nashville during his early years. In later years, he worked for Metro Traffic Violations Bureau until his retirement. Since retirement, he has enjoyed trail riding, gardening, growing his famous tomatoes and spending time with his precious yellow lab “Ms. Cody”.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2pm until 6 pm. A Celebration of his life will be held Monday May 14, 2018 at 11:30 am in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
