Robert (Bob) Elmore Freeland passed away on the 19th of February, 2013. He was born on the 24th of April 1923 in Greenbrier, Tennessee. Bob was young when the Freeland family lost most of their possession as a result of the 1929 financial crash, despite his youth; he began driving a pedal truck from Robertson County, Tennessee to Nashville, selling eggs and milk to help his family make “ends meet”. Bob graduated from Greenbrier High School in 1942. He enlisted in the United States Naval Air Corps as an Airman First Class on September 30, 1942 and served his country honorably until October 1945. Bob married Kathleen Choate February 11, 1950 and the couple resided in Nashville throughout their lives. In service to Our Lord, Bob was a member of the Fourth Degree Knights, Knights of Columbus, a Catholic fraternal service organization. Bob worked for 9 years for DuPont in Old Hickory, Tennessee; he left DuPont in 1956 to accept a position at Ford Glass Plant in Nashville at the time Ford began operations. Bob retired from Ford Glass Plant after 29 years of employment. During his retirement years, he and wife Kathleen enjoyed travel worldwide and winters in Florida. What can be said of Bob Freeland? He experienced a deep love affair with Kathleen, his wife of 54 years. He leaves a legacy of life in 4 children and 4 grandchildren. What made Bob joyful? Florida beaches, a good card game, travel, sports and conversation. He was a handsome man. And his loving family and friends would say Bob always wanted to expose the truth as he saw it before him. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Lola Mae and Louis Elmore Freeland; a brother, Thomas Allen Freeland; his wife, Kathleen; a son, Robert, Jr. He is survived by his brother, William Freeland, Sr.; children, Cynthia Freeland Martin West and husband Dave, Rose Freeland Bayliss and husband Ron; Michael Scott Freeland; and Kathy Freeland Garcia and husband Charles. Grandchildren, Prentiss R. Martin and wife Jamie; John Oliver Teasley; Robert Douglas McDaniel and Kristal D. McDaniel. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from eleven o’clock in the morning until two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 22nd of February at Marshall- Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home, 201 25th Avenue North in Nashville. The memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock, Friday, the 22nd of February at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home, 201 25th Avenue North in Nashville. Associate Pastor Steve Wolfe of St. Henry Catholic Church will be presiding. Immediately following, all are invited to attend a short gravesite service at Bob’s final resting place next to his wife, Kathleen at Calvary Cemetery, 1101 Lebanon Road in Nashville. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that contributions be directed to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, Tennessee, 37203
