Mary Ann “Tommie” Hibbett Andrews passed away peacefully at age 94 on December 21. She is preceded in death by her parents Ann Swan Hibbett and Thomas Hibbett and her husband John Nolan Andrews. She is survived by her three children Margaret “Peggy” Andrews, John (Viola) Andrews and Susan Andrews (J.T.) Thompson along with grandchildren Lindsay Andrews and Sophia Andrews and great granddaughter Sonia Andrews.
Born in Nashville, Tenn., Tommie attended Ward Belmont and Vanderbilt University where she met her husband. She played a supportive role in the family business Andrews Distributing Company, Inc. which served as the wholesale distributor for Carrier Air Conditioning Company with offices in Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville and Tri-Cities.
She was a member of AOPi at Vanderbilt and was an active alumnae for many years. She enjoyed community service and was a member of the Ladies of Charity and Christ the King Church.
She also enjoyed landscape design and worked at Geddes Douglass Nursery. Tommie was an avid golfer and was on the Ladies 18-Hole Committee at Hillwood Country Club where her husband John was one of the founders in 1956. Tommie grew to become a keen bridge player at the Vanderbilt Bridge Club and with many groups of friends throughout the years.
Tommie enjoyed her friends from Belle Meade Tower and Blakeford where she participated in the Book Club and enjoyed entertainment and other community activities. She was well-loved by many friends and was the embodiment of kindness and caring.
A special thanks to her dedicated caregivers Dr. Brian Cromwell, Dr. David Todd, Dr. Kent Shih, Alive Hospice and Sarah Cares who all contributed to her long and enjoyable life.
